lyrics
Maybe it is what it is.
Not what it should be, not what you wanted.
Maybe it's best if we just leave it.
No wasted time if you don't believe in it.
Life gives and takes away.
Breathe in, out and away.
Counting backwards through the days spent beside you.
I constantly swing between lonely and longing and weathered and wanting.
I thought I had a better idea of what life to lead without you.
But most of these days I realise I don't know.
Maybe it's best to walk on ahead.
I'll do my best to catch up when I can.
Maybe it's not the place or the timing.
Don't care for the blame, just keep on trying.
You once said you'd take my name.
Oh how quickly life can change.
I said I wanted some space.
Oh how quickly life can change.
There's hope in me that I can one day be happy, I won't wait and see.
There's hope in me that I can one day be happy for me.
There is something purely authentic and honest about Infant Island's music. These songs are substantial in their impact that go deep under the surface. The sound mix is everywhere (track 3 on headphones?!?!) with some of the slower nuanced moments giving needed space for maximum effect when the violent intensity hits. But on career highlight "Awoken," they leave nothing behind. A must hear song from an increasingly important band. bcb723
I don't mean to be a "first albums only" elitist or anything of the sort since I didn't even discover these guys til maybe a year and change ago, but truth be told- the demo tracks are my favorites despite Deafheaven's undeniable growth and evolution into a broader sort of awesome. satangutsandchristcorpsepaint
