Skyjacker

Fake name in a three piece suit
Lied and ticked “no explosives”
They didn’t ask about no parachute
Request granted for an aisle seat
Legroom to spare
“Could I grab a bourbon soda, please?”
Fine white dress miss, avoid red wine
I expect some turbulence in just over an hour’s time.
A quick stop in Tacoma
It’s impossible to track a loner
Transcending mythology
Descending, watching eyes ain’t seeing me
Briefcase secured, loot counted and stacked
Tray table secured, cabin crew prepare for crash
The bomb is armed, manoeuvres smooth
So if I hit this red handle, will that blow the hatch?
November 24, 71
Northwest Orient F305
Freefall from mile high, air thin, skinny sky.
Two minutes, no oxygen to my gills
Altitude right, strap pulled, chute fills
Smooth sailing as I prepare to hit the ground
Timed just right, less than a click from the car waiting in town.
News travels slow here in the islands down south.
Police sketch? You wouldn’t recognise me now.
The federales said they found my body in a marsh.
Then how am I sipping cocktails beachside through a thick moustache?

Welcome to my marshland home!
Did you bring a friend or did you come alone?
Won’t you take a seat and rest your weary bones.
Please disregard the mess, I did not anticipate having guests.
Where are my manners? Would you like a tea or coffee? Any allergies or gluten free requests?
And that’s when you realise you’re surrounded by fragments of egg, a mother’s love and
50 hatchlings closing in upon the nest.
Things to keep you up at night.
Panic, terror, fear and fright.
Your worst fears are realised.
Do you flounder, fight, freeze or fly?
A murderous killing machine.
Brilliant white teeth, soul unclean,
A lacerated snake ain’t this mean.
She glares at you with slitted eyes
Watching closely for routine
Waiting to let loose 60 jagged guillotines.
Your final pirouette: a pivot from person to protein.
There is no use in struggling
As you scream into red and green.
Your last breath an eternal gurgling,
Your character killed off.
End scene.
